W ramach seminarium wykład wygłosi emerytowany profesor ETC Zurich profesor Walter Gander. Tematyka wykładu: "Informatics and Education". Wykład zaplanowany jest jako 45 minutowy i wygłoszony będzie w języku angielskim.
Po przerwie kawowej zapraszamy na kolejny wykład zaplanowany na godzinę 11:00, który wygłosi profesor Stanislav Barton, pracownik Katedry Informatyki Wydziału Elektrotechniki, Automatyki i Informatyki Politechniki Opolskiej. Tematyka wykładu: " Mathematical Modeling using Maple", czas trwania wykładu to 45 minut, wykład również wygłoszony będzie w języku angielskim.

Profesor Walter Gander
Born May 24, 1944, married, two daughters.
Current status: Professor emeritus, Computer Science, ETH Zurich.

Academic degrees and positions: PhD in mathematics ETH Zurich, 1973, supervisor Peter Henrici. Privatdozent in Numerical Analysis at ETH 1979-1986, Professor in Computer Science at ETH 1987-2009, founder of the Institute of Computational Science at ETH.
1989-1991: Head of the evaluation committee for the Swiss national supercomputer. Purchased the first supercomputer for the Swiss
National Supercomputing Center in Manno.
1997-2001: Chairman of the Department of Computer Science at ETH and also Head of Education of Computer Science.
Research interests: Scientific computing, Numerical Linear Algebra and Parallel Computing.
